Golf Courses Visited By Ledbury Golf Society

Whilst we cannot arrange a trip to Augusta National Golf Club (pictured) we do however visit a number of very nice courses in and around the West Midlands.

Finding local courses that offer a challenge to all our members from 45 hcp juniors to single figure players is a difficult task. At Ledbury Golf Society we aim to please all our members and put a great deal of effort into choosing the courses we play. Please see below for a sample of the courses we have played at over the last few trips.

South Herefordshire Golf Course

South Herefordshire Golf CourseThe club has the 6800 yard Twin Lakes course, which is set in the beautiful countryside of Herefordshire. With quick greens and testing drives the course provided a real challenge to all who visited. The par 5 10th is a particularly challenging hole, 547 yards (even off yellows) all uphill really takes three good shots to stand a chance of a par.

The hospitality shown to us by the staff present at the club when we visited was excellent and we hope to be booking a return trip there later in 2010/2011.

Cleobury Mortimer Golf Course

Cleobury Mortimer Golf CourseNestled in the picturesque countryside on the Shropshire and Worcestershire border along the Wyre Forest this great golf course suited all those who visited. A golf complex of 27 holes split into 3 nine hole courses the day was truly memorable. The course was in tip top condition with quick greens and water playing a part in a number of holes. We played deer, then had lunch with badger and fox in the afternoon. A thoroughly enjoyable day well worth a visit, so much so we are planning another trip there next year.

Celtic Manor Golf Resort

Celtic Manor Golf Golf CourseAs venue for the 2010 Ryder Cup and home of The Celtic Manor Wales Open, a leading European Tour event, The Celtic Manor Resort offers some of the finest golf courses and facilities in the UK. These include the Roman Road, The Twenty Ten Course and The Montgomerie.

The courses for many of our members the course we played (Montgomerie) was just too difficult. It makes you really understand the difference between us mere mortals and the pros. The facilities and the course could not be faulted for their condition, however.
